Manuscript support
From your sequencing data to a submitted paper. We plan the analysis around your research question, run it from your raw data and write it up for your chosen journal. Everything happens online.
How it works
No phone calls or meetings needed. Every request and every answer is in writing, so nothing gets lost.
Send your request
Tell us about your study, ask your questions and attach your files in the form below. You get a reference number straight away.
Get a free quote
Within 2 working days we email the analysis plan, what we will deliver, the price and the delivery date, plus advice on suitable journals.
Reply "I agree"
We start work. If we have questions, we ask them by email.
Receive your files
We email the figures, tables and complete, editable Word files and, for revisions, the response letter.
Pay after delivery
Check the work and pay within 7 days. No advance payment during the pilot.
Free follow-up
Small follow-up questions within 14 days are answered free, by email.
Two study types in the pilot
We start with the studies we know best. Other fields will open after the pilot.
Bacterial whole genome
One or more isolates, for example from fish, animals, food, water or clinical samples. The analysis can include:
- Genome quality and species check (completeness, contamination, ANI)
- Annotation and sequence typing (MLST)
- Antimicrobial resistance and virulence genes, cross-checked in several databases
- Plasmids, phages and other mobile elements
- Comparison with public genomes: pangenome and phylogenetic tree
- Links to your lab results, such as antibiotic tests or challenge trials
16S rRNA microbiome
Amplicon sequencing of water, soil, gut, food or other samples. The analysis can include:
- Fresh processing of your raw reads: primer check, DADA2 and a current reference database
- Contamination and quality checks
- Alpha and beta diversity, with statistics that fit your study design
- Differential abundance, cross-checked with more than one method
- Links to your sample data, such as water chemistry, location or treatment
- Predicted functions (PICRUSt2), reported with their limits
The exact analysis depends on your question and your data. We list it in your quote before any work starts.
Standard report or project-based analysis?
Your sequencing report gives you a quick first look at your data. A paper usually needs more.
Standard report
- Comes with your sequencing
- The same set of analyses and plots for every project
- Good for a first look: assembly, annotation and resistance genes for genomes; taxonomy, diversity and predicted functions for 16S
Project-based analysis
- Planned around your research question and study design
- Rerun from your raw data, with quality and contamination checks
- Statistics that match your design, such as paired or grouped samples
- Publication-ready figures and tables in your journal's style
- A methods section that names every tool and version
- Every number in the paper traced back to the analysis files
What you can ask for
Choose one or more. You get one clear quote before any work starts. The quote is free and you are under no obligation.
Project-based analysis
Analysis of your raw data, planned around your question. You receive the figures, tables, a results summary and the methods text.
Full manuscript
The analysis plus a complete research article from your data and lab results, with 2 rounds of your revisions and advice on suitable journals.
Journal submission
Formatting and cover letter for your chosen journal, help preparing your NCBI data submission, and replies to up to 2 rounds of reviewer comments.
Reply to reviewers
For a genome or 16S paper already under review: response letter, revised manuscript and any extra analysis the reviewers ask for.
The price depends on the number of samples or genomes, the analysis your question needs, the number of figures and tables, and your deadline. Sequenced with BD Genomes? Analysis and writing can go on the same quote as your sequencing. Reviewers asking for new experiments: you do the lab work, and we write it up afterwards.
100% online
- Send requests through the form below or by email: [email protected].
- We don't offer phone or WhatsApp support for manuscripts. Written requests keep a clear record for both sides.
- Ask for changes as comments in the Word file (Review → New Comment), or list them by page and line.
- Paste reviewer comments into your email or attach the journal's decision letter.
- Keep your reference number (MS-…) in the email subject. We reply within 2 working days.
Aiming for a top journal?
You choose the journal. Before we start, we tell you honestly which journal level your data fits. If you aim higher, each new journal after a rejection is quoted as a separate resubmission. After two rejections we recommend the advised level again. No one can promise acceptance, and neither do we.
Our standards
BD Genomes has built its name over many years. Manuscript support follows the same care.
What we never do
- Write a paper without your real data, or change or "improve" results
- Claim more than the data can show, such as pathogen species or health risk from 16S data alone
- Sell authorship or promise acceptance in any journal
- Suggest predatory journals. Every journal we suggest is checked in Scopus, Web of Science or DOAJ
- Submit on your behalf. You stay the author and submit your own paper
Checked before delivery
- Every number in the text matches the analysis files, tables and figures
- Every reference is real and checked
- The text follows the journal's guide for authors
- No copied text, written in our own words
- If we make a mistake, we fix it free and quickly
Your files are confidential and deleted 6 months after your project closes. We suggest a short acknowledgement line, and we tell you if writing tools were used so you can disclose them as your journal requires.
